J/ Pon Paramananthar Maha Vidyalayam

J/Pon. Paramananthar Maha Vidyalayam is a Tamil-medium school serving children in the rural community of Kurumbasiddy, Tellippalai, in Sri Lanka’s Northern Province. Like many schools recovering in the post-war North, it works with limited resources to give its pupils a safe, dignified place to learn.

Today the school faces two urgent needs that it cannot meet from its own funds – and we are asking for your support.

What We Need

1. A Prayer Hall for the school

The school requires a dedicated prayer and assembly hall, connected to its main building, where pupils can gather for worship, assemblies and community events. A qualified estimate has been prepared for the full construction, covering concrete and masonry work, aluminium doors and safety grilles, a collapsible front gate, plastering, painting and protective fencing.

Estimated cost: LKR 3,176,324 (inclusive of 18% VAT)

2. Classroom furniture (desks and chairs)

Much of the school’s existing furniture is badly damaged and no longer usable. The school urgently needs:

• 10 sets of desks and chairs for pupils
• 5 sets of desks and chairs for teachers

Replacing this furniture will allow children and staff to learn and work in proper, safe conditions.
